Delicious blog » What’s Next for Delicious?
via onefps:
A “Chris” responds on Delicious’s official blog to press coverage that Yahoo is canning the service. Turns out Delicious should live on, as it sounds like Yahoo is entertaining buyout offers. In fact: “there’s no reason to panic. We are maintaining Delicious and encourage you to keep using it,” Chris writes, though “we have export options if you so choose.”
Regardless, Yahoo still dealt the Internet a major blow yesterday by one-upping Google for the “buy a bunch of promising products, then let the rot” crown. A lot of early adopters are already fleeing to alternatives, and I see a lot of folks and posts about ejecting from other properties Yahoo didn’t even peg for dismantling, like Flickr.
Instead of waiting to see if Yahoo can plug its leaks, the Internet has begun to actively turned against it. I guess we’ll see if enough of Delicious’s user base sticks around to make a transition to a new owner worthwhile.
